How to block spam messages in your WordPress site
Spam is duplicate messages sent to internet users an attempt to commercial advertisement. Basically there are two types of spam that that is flooding the internet. One is spams sent to Usenet groups. In this case same message is sent to 20 or more Usenet groups.
Second is email spams. Which is a single message that targets to the single user. These kind of spams are often sent to the mailing lists.
How to block Spam comments

1. Akismet IS is an anti spam plugin for WordPress site. Refer [Akismet IS ].
The name Akismet comes from Automattic and Kismet. Auttomatic is the company behind Akismet, and it was founded by the WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg. It has its own algorithm to identify the soam messages through self-learning. Akismet catches the blog comments and ping back spam using the algorithm. When is message is identified by Akismet as spam message it mark that message with spam flag. Like when a message is posted in your site normally if not otherwise set, it is waiting for the moderation, but when it is automatically marked by Akismet as spam , that moderation option will not be available. So when a number of sites mark a message as spam Akismet learn from there and automatically includes in its database as spam. If any legitimate post is marked as spam by Akismet, one need to contact the administrator to mark it non spam.
Once you activate Akismet plugin, you have to enter the Akismet API key that you generate you need to register on Akismet site.
Anti-Spam is a plugin that works well with Word press site and the installation and configuration are quite simple. Anti-spam blocks the spams automatically and that is invisible to user and admin. Anti-spam works only with the comments section.
3. Spam Master
Spam Master is to protect the spams that attract majority of word press website. Spam-Master protects from Spam messages and Spam registration process. Spam master shows the statistics of blocked messages, approved messages, protection level, website users etc.

Content can be posted by anyone but not allow the message to be posted directly on your website, a good option is being used by most of the websites are keeping the moderation option on. It prevents from directly publishing a post.
c. Registration of users
You can prevent the spammers by forcing them to register.
d. Membership charges
Different membership options including free to limited option registration are also good techniques to fight against Spamming.
